You're right. Like you, I think the accolades entertainers get is bullshit - I may like their performance but unlike a lot of people and gays who live their lives through others, I don't care two shits what they're wearing or who they're screwing. I wrote this blog because I'm tired of hearing about these poor, fucked up people who have more success and more money than 90% of us and just can't deal with.

You ask if the fallen entertainer is one thing or another. It's none of that. Entertainers are just like the rest of us. Just more public. Some handle the pressure of success, others don't. Some don't achieve success - whether luck, timing, or talent, and others do. Some are given a song that resonates at that moment in time and others don't have such a song. It's just like real life and regular people. Your blog entry conveys some sort of specialness to celebrities even while you try to pretend you don't get why people focus on them. You're focusing on them today. Why? People who really don't care didn't read anything about what people thought about Whitney. They read the obituaries and accolades that give her history - if they enjoyed her music. They contemplated the unluckilness of her meeting Bobby Brown and the caustic influence he had to drag an apparently nice person into the world of drugs. People need to answer that question, and it has nothing to do with Whitney and everything to do with how just plain folks do the same thing.

The exact reason I almost never watch Logo. I have not interest in watching bitchy drag queens and twinks with nothing more to talk about than who their dating and what they are going to where to the clubs on Saturday night. There is so much variety and creativity in the the GLBT community. I was so excited when Cox Cabel in Omaha finally started carrying Logo and it has been nothing but a disappointment!
