Kudos to Nevada State Senator Kelvin Atkinson, weary of all the nonsense talk about the evils of gay marriage from colleagues as a debate on repealing the state’s ban on same sex marriage raged on the State House, finally got up and said, very simply, “I’m black. I’m gay.” He added: “If this hurts your marriage, then your marriage was in trouble in the first place.”
Up to that point, Senator Atkinson had never gone public regarding his sexual orientation. As a credit to his unabashed honesty, the vote went through.
