There’s some national legislation afoot that would illegalize discrimination as to who can adopt. Right now, though most states allow single gays to adopt, adoption by gay couples is murky. A law of the land would finally change that. Even Dudley Do Right Paul Ryan, perhaps realizing the Republican Party is dead meat if it doesn’t start relaxing its views on social issues, announced he regretted his vote several years ago to ban gay marriage and gay adoptions.
What’s saddest is there are thousands of kids abandoned and in orphanages who could benefit from adoption by gay couples who, stats show, are more likely to adopt the “aging out,” developmentally disabled, and kids of color white couples just don’t want.
