Reverend Fred Phelps, who picketed hundreds of military funerals because he felt those deaths were God’s way of punishing America for its growing acceptance of us, finally met his Master this week. Even when the family of a Marine killed in Iraq whose funeral Phelps disrupted sued him in the Supreme Court, the Court painfully ruled in favor of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. Phelps was so over the top that even the most conservative wing of the Protestant church, no friend of gays, called him a “hatemonger.”
Yea, he’s gone; we just wish homophobia would go away as easily.
Who knows? Maybe Phelps ended up in the other place and is being taunted by a couple of nine-inch dicked queens for eternity.
We can only hope.
